After the shot, Steve comes to see how it went. Unfortunately, it went awry...as do all of the best laid plans.

Wayne's stalk by admin
Category: Hunting
We heard a hog blow out, but didn't hear it hit the thick stuff. Hoping it was still there, Wayne starts down the hill on full alert.
No love this evening, but it was an exciting few moments.

Tejon Hog - target acquired by admin
Category: Hunting
After my miserably botched stalk with the pistol, I get another chance. This time will be with the rifle, but I don't have anyone to video for me this time. I've got the hogs spotted on the opposite ridge.

Memorable Memorial Day Hunt - Tejon - Part 1 by admin
Category: Hunting
Tejon Ranch does it again, and this time my brother, Scott, was able to fly in from North Carolina to join the fun.
I've come to the conclusion that getting the shot on film is nearly a holy grail... at least on this kind of hunt. It happens fast most of the time, and it's a choice of using the rifle or the camera. I choose the rifle.
Anyway, big fun. There's a second part coming when I get a chance.

Blown opportunity by admin
Category: Hunting
This should be embarrassing, but it's pretty funny too.
After a perfect stalk, I totally lost my cool. Somehow, I almost got away with it, but at the last minute, the hogs bolted and I blew a .44 caliber hole in the hillside.
Oh well.

Memorable Memorial Day at Tejon Part 2 by admin
Category: Hunting
Sorry for the delay, but I've been hunting! Here's part 2 of the Tejon hunt. Not much footage, and I apologize for the wind noise.
It's mostly my friend, John, getting ready to take the rope down to his hog that went over a ledge. We used the truck to pull it up... along with about 1400 feet of rope!

Tejon Hog - After the shot by admin
Category: Hunting
There was no way to record the shot, as it was all I could do to manage the rifle and rangefinder. The shot wasn't anything special... 108 yards, across canyon and slightly uphill. With the 30-06 and a tree for a rest, it was actually pretty easy.
The hog went ass over tea kettle about 200' down the steep hillside, culminating with a fall over a 30' cliff and into the creek. No follow-up shot was required.

Ugly boar by admin
Category: Hunting
One of my friends from Jesse's Hunting and Outdoors took this ugly monster on the first evening of our archery hunt at the Tejon Ranch. The video isn't that great, since I don't have lights, but you should see the face on this old beast. No ear on one side, and a little nub of an ear on the other.. scarred up face, and even a split tongue from fighting!
Dave's wife, Lori, tagged out on Sunday as well... making a great weekend for this awesome couple.
