Hilton Hotel Explosion (before structural damage) by admin
Category: Hunting
*Copyright* May 19, 2008 Fourteen people were hurt in an explosion on San Diego's bayfront Hilton Hotel that was currently under construction. Three of them are under medically induced comas due to severe burns and injuries. There were a total of 400 construction crew members on site when this happened. Debris from the blast scattered all the way to the parking lot nearby. Cost of damage has been estimated at 5 million dollars although the building remains stable. Cal-OSHA is now involved in the investigation. The hotel sits on what used to be Campbell's Shipyard, where tuna boats were built back in the day of a booming tuna fishing industry that headed southwards after an ongoing heated debate, by environmentalists, to save the dolphins trapped in fishermens nets.
I took these pictures while attending the Red Bull Air Race World Series earlier that same month and have boxed the vicinity where this blast occurred for easier viewing(copyright).

Fly Fishing Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass SoCal by admin
Category: Hunting
I left Los Angeles to go fly fishing "the Canals"
My flies: chartreuse/white and orange/white clousers (I found these two colors work the best), reddish crayfish, foam spiders (normally used for panfish, but the smallies attack it like crazy, EXPLOSION CITY! ), and a black pencil popper (no name for this fly I just tied what I think might work) I made.
I lost count after 40 bass. All and all it was an awesome day of fishing.
My next video will be of the Colorado River.
All my fish were released unharmed. So GET LOST PETA!!!
I had to remake this because my girlfriend thinks my videos are the most boring thing on earth. WOMEN }:|

kit fox are dumb? by admin
Category: Hunting
We were hunting coyotes and a few minutes into our stand this guy came out of his den for a little sun. He was less than interested in all those sounds we were making. I got my camera out of my pocket and tried to steady it on my shooting sticks to catch this video clip. He stayed there until we got up to leave and then he dived back into his den. This kit fox was not injured.

Night of the Horse 2008 - Raccoon Jumping by admin
Category: Hunting
On Saturday April 19th at the 63rd Annual Del Mar National Horse Show in Del Mar, California we were entertained by Raccoon Jumping. Also referred to as "Coon Jumping," this was done by mules that hunted raccoons mostly in the Midwest. Instead of jumping over brick or rock walls like fox hunting, the mules encountered a lot of barbed wire. The rider would dismount from the mule and put his jacket or a piece of rope over the barbed wire to cover the fence and make it more visible, since coon hunting took place at night.
The show competition evolved from the practice of using mules for the coon hunting. Now there are big "Coon Jumping" contests in all the mule shows. The mule is the only equine that can jump from a standing start.

JHO 2007 Spring Turkey Bowhunt Part II by admin
Category: Hunting
Part II
Travis won our turkey bowhunt for spring 2007 at Bryson Hesperia Resort near Paso Robles CA with Deedy and gang. It was Travis' first time flinging arrows out of a blind at a turkey.
This was the last tom we called in after blowing a couple other setups. This guy came running down the hill after one yelp, he almost caught us offguard he came so fast.
We knew from the strut tracks in the dirt road that the toms were near and we set out one Featherflex hen decoy.
As you can see, once he got right in front of us and started to strut he saw something he didn't like and broke strut, only to run off. We were in the shadows and we checked after for anything shiny but couldn't find anything. It may have just been a slight movement the he saw.
Blinds are ASAT Quickie and Double Bull.
Cam is a Canon GL-2.

CA Fish and Game Commission Mtg. Pt 2 by admin
Category: Hunting
The second part of the exerpts from the April 11 CA Fish and Game Commission meeting.
Among other things in this clip, note the hard-core rationalization from Mr Rogers in his attempt to leverage the recent North Dakota lead-in-venison scare as added justification for banning lead ammo.
Note also that the ban of lead rimfire ammo is only related to non-game animals, which means that the lead in these bullets poses no threat to humans at all... while rimfires will still be perfectly legal for hunting small game for human consumption.
It's bureaucracy at its worst... so enjoy.

Crow Hunt Bryson Hesperia Resort Feb 18 2008 by admin
Category: Hunting
Crow Hunt Bryson Hesperia Resort Feb 18 2008.
I got some slack time from pig hunting so I drug out the crow caller. As I drove into the area there were about 100 crows feeding in the middle of the field. Started off with "Crow Riot" and not even a look. Changed to "Baby Crow getting the crap strangled out of him" and here come the calvary. I couldn't load fast enough. Feathers are still fluttering down. Shot them at about 30 to 50 yards by tucking up under a manzanita tree among the coastal oaks.
Shotgun - Remington 870
Ammo - Hevi-13 #5
Call - Loudmouth
Camcorder - Canon GL-2 with Century 2x tele lens.

Caught with my pants down. I was checking on a turkey roost and messing with some toms when 3 hogs popped up. My bow was in the back seat of the truck so I shot some quick video of the hogs and tried to slip the bow out for a shot.

Memorable Memorial Day Hunt - Tejon - Part 1 by admin
Category: Hunting
Tejon Ranch does it again, and this time my brother, Scott, was able to fly in from North Carolina to join the fun.
I've come to the conclusion that getting the shot on film is nearly a holy grail... at least on this kind of hunt. It happens fast most of the time, and it's a choice of using the rifle or the camera. I choose the rifle.
Anyway, big fun. There's a second part coming when I get a chance.

Memorable Memorial Day at Tejon Part 2 by admin
Category: Hunting
Sorry for the delay, but I've been hunting! Here's part 2 of the Tejon hunt. Not much footage, and I apologize for the wind noise.
It's mostly my friend, John, getting ready to take the rope down to his hog that went over a ledge. We used the truck to pull it up... along with about 1400 feet of rope!
