	San Jacinto WA Blind Day Sept. 22 2007 by admin Category: Hunting San Jacinto Wildlife Area in southern California had their blind day today. About 30 of us met at the area to repair blinds and watch all the ducks using the ponds. The video shows the new levee on the north side of the B and C ponds. It also shows the flooding of the new ponds at the Walker and F pond areas. Scott said there were 5,000 ducks using the area, we sure saw a bunch. Cinnamon teal, green wing teal, redheads, spoonies, widgeon, pintails, mallards, gadwalls and about 10 honkers over on Walkers. We saw one snipe too heading for the mud just south of the C ponds. We didn't have the BBQ today due to the rain, most of us went over to the local Mexican restaurant in Perris for lunch. Camcorder was a Canon GL-2. 	2007 Rifle Buck - #1 by admin Category: Hunting Part 1 of three video series. Click to view all videos to see them all. OMG I can't beleive I shot 4 deer this year! That may not sound like a big deal to folks in some states, but in Maine, the historic sucess rate to bag even one deer per year is 15% - 20%. I have hunted many years without harvesting a deer. This deer is also special since it is a "big woods" deer. My other three were expanded archery zone deer where there is a much higher concentration of deer. Taking this little buck was also special as I was with a 15 year old kid I have taken hunting for three years, but this was the first time I showed him what a deer looked like up close! Perhaps next year the deer will walk by his stand. I harvested this on the banks of the Ducktrap River in Belmont Maine. I heard footsteps on the other side of the river at 3:00 and got ready, but then heard so much grunting I'm pretty sure it was a hunter working a tube. The steps sort of sounded more human than deer-like as well.... at 3:20 I heard "my" deer on the other side of my stand (away from the river) and when the wind made some noise in the branches, I stood up and saw it feeding 60 yards away in some firs. It slowly fed towards me in heavy timber and I shot it at 50 yards when it stopped in an opening. It dropped right away as the 30-06 bullet blew through the bottom of the spine and out through the far lung. It was dead before it hit the ground. Length: 00:46
