Hello there. I want to go and hunt some prairie dogs. I have a .223 Savage with a 6-24 x 50 scope. What kind of distance should I be sighting this gun in at?

Usualy you only have to be 100 yards away. But as a general rule u should get close enough to use a .22 then move back as they get scared then use your rifle. 200yds would be plenty.

I'm not a professional, but I am a varmint hunter. in my varminting experience, we shoot anywhere from 150-300 yards. 300 yards is a pretty fair shot on a prairie dog-they're not very big, even in a scope. In my opinion, I'd sight that rifle in for 1 inch high at 150 yards. .223 should have no problem with those distances. Hope this helps.
